@6 The F1-Aminet Pick 'n' Mix Scheme@2
---------------------------------
@5
What is the Aminet?@2 #7 !PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A UK SERVICE ONLY!@5
-------------------@4
Aminet is the worlds largest software archive of freely distributable
software for any computer. Access to the Aminet is usually
via the Internet or through quartly released CD-Roms, leaving users with no
modem or CD-player in the lurch, this is where we come in.
On our Aminet catalogue we have content listings of 12 Aminet CD's that's a
whopping 12 Gigabytes (that's 12,000 megabytes) of software.
Our Aminet catalogue comes on two disk:
Disk 1: contains the first 4 Aminet CD's and a WB2 only extractor utility.
Disk 2: contains Aminet CD's 5-12 which are tyhe most recent.
@5
Both disks are independent of each other.
@4
To get your free Aminet catalogue just include a stamp for each disk in
your next ordr or include an extra stamp for return postage if you are not
ordering anything.
@5
How does it work?@2
-----------------@4
You can pick up to 820K of programs per floppy disk, each program's size in
K is given in the catalogue disk.
The cost of each floppy disk is just £1.00 with a minimum order of 5 disks.
Postage is 75p for any size order.
An easy to use order form is provided with your Aminet catalogue disk.
To obtain your Aminet cat disk please send us TWO first class stamps.
If you are not familiar with de-compressing Lha archives you can request
'Friendly' disks. These disks boot up and all you do is double click
on an icon to de-compress the archive. It is all explained in our Aminet
catalogue. The cost of a friendly disk is the same as a 'Bare' disk but
because of the extra system files you can only have 720K of archives on
each floppy.
@5
What are archives?@2
------------------@3 For 'Bare' disk users only:@4
When you receive your Aminet archives you may be dismayed to learn that
all the files are NOT runnable, you have to decompress them first, yukk!
But this is why Aminet is so popular, you get 2-3 times more on a disk
this way. The compression used is called 'LHA' and the program you need
to 'extract' the files from the archive is also called 'LHA'.
LHA is supplied on the cat disk and a step by step guide on how to use it.
What LHA actually does is roll a file or lots of files and drawers
into a single file called an archive and compresses it to a fraction of the
original files size.
@5
Beginners beware!@2
-----------------@4
LHA,is quite scary first time you use it, but it is not that hard once you
know what to do.
A full step by step tutorial is provided on the Aminet cat disk on how
to extract your archives.
@6IF IN DOUBT ORDER 'FRIENDLY' DISKS, they are still £1.00 each.@4
If you get really stuck you can always give me a call, send me a letter
(with an sae) or contact me by e-mail for help, though I am very busy so
please keep it brief and to the point, this is why I have taken the trouble
to write the help file on the Aminet cat disk, to save explaining the
process hundreds of times.
#7
For every 10 disks you order you can take 2 more disks of archives FREE.
